Biafo Hispar Snow lake is high altitude glacial basin in the Karakorum Range at the elevation of 4900M and around 16km wide, located at the head of Biafo and Hispar Glaciers that spreads down from the Hispar Pass 5150M in opposite direction. It is just below the Hispar Pass and this immense basin of snow and ice forms which these two huge glaciers radiate. This snow covered glacial expanse at the head of Biafo is best explored on skis, best place to do ski.
This trek starts from the Skardu which is connected to Islamabad, the capital of the country by air 1hrs flight and by road around 22-24 hrs drive from Islamabad. It is 6-7 hrs jeep drive from Skardu Town to Askoli 3050M, the last village in the Shigar Valley where jeep roads ends and trek starts and this village is also gateway to the Baltoro Glacier, Concordia and K 2 Base Camp. The trek from the Askoli Village initially proceeds towards then turns northwest up to Biafo Glacier to Snow Lake. Before reaching the vast white expenses of Snow Lake Pass many famous peaks including Latoks and Baintha View of Mountains from Biafo Glacier Brakk (7280M) also known « OGRE » and many more peaks up to Snow Lake, which is magical place.
